3D-Printed Animal Figures and Play Sets for Children
A horse suddenly needs a stable. A little animal finds new friends. A dragon hatches from its egg. One small figure becomes the beginning of an entire story. This is what fascinates us about 3D printing.
At ProtoPlot3D in Switzerland, we create articulated animal figures, ProtoDragons and complete play worlds that children can pick up, move, combine and use to invent their own adventures. Our creations grow from tiny characters to whole miniature worlds, built layer by layer.

What are 3D-printed animal figures?
Unlike traditional plastic toys made in injection moulds, a 3D printer builds each animal in layers. The process makes it possible to integrate fine details and, in suitable designs, movable components directly into the figure.
Horses, dogs, cats, exotic animals, fantasy creatures and dragons can be collected separately or brought together in a play set. Explore our articulated animal figures.
More than one figure: play worlds encourage imagination
A single animal can inspire many stories. Add a stable, a fence, a feeding area or other small pieces and suddenly the animal has a place to live. What happens in that world is entirely up to the child.
That is why our animal play sets combine figures and surroundings. The horse play set with a stable, fence and horses forms a scene that invites play straight away. This Swiss-made world is offered for children aged 3 and over.

Horse toys for young horse enthusiasts
Horses are especially well suited to miniature play worlds. Instead of standing alone, the figure can have its own stable, enclosure, feed and companions. Alongside complete play sets, ProtoPlot3D also offers individual horses and horse-and-foal combinations.
An existing play world can grow when a new animal arrives. We love that approach: begin with one horse, then perhaps create an entire farm.
Not everyone's favourite animal is a horse
Children have very different favourites. One loves horses, another red pandas, while someone else prefers farm animals or imaginary creatures. We want our animal collection to reflect that variety.
Red pandas are already part of our range of figures for play and collecting. You can find many more characters among our 3D-printed animal figures.

From pigs to sheep: a collection keeps growing
A play world never has to be finished. Today a horse joins the scene. Tomorrow a pig. Later, perhaps a sheep or another animal entirely. The figures can be arranged and combined in new ways.
Children don't need a completely new toy for every story. Characters they already own can become part of a farm, fantasy adventure or original scene of their own.
Why moving animal figures are exciting
Many children don't just want to display a figure—they want to move it. Depending on the model, body sections and segments can be designed to move immediately after printing.
An articulated animal can assume different positions and appear more alive than a completely rigid figure. ProtoPlot3D offers a growing range including cats, dogs, beavers, chameleons, penguins, unicorns and other animals.

Animals don't always have to look realistic
3D printing opens up another world: fantasy. Colours can be wild, shapes surprising and characters very different from their real-life counterparts. Children don't always choose an animal because the colours are biologically accurate. Often they simply say, “That one looks cool!”
And, of course, there are the dragons
Once we enter the world of fantasy, our ProtoDragons are never far away. Even a single dragon can inspire stories; some models also include an egg or other elements. Our dragons come in different sizes, shapes and colour combinations, so there's always another character to meet.

Small figures make lovely gifts
Not every present needs to be huge. A small 3D-printed animal can be a birthday gift, souvenir, surprise or new part of an existing collection. For a bigger gift, a complete play set is another possibility.
There are plenty of choices: a single animal, a figure with accessories, a horse stable, a whole animal world or an articulated dragon. Explore ProtoPlot3D gift ideas.
Swiss Made: 3D-printed toys from Switzerland
ProtoPlot3D manufactures in Oetwil am See, Switzerland, using our own 3D printers. Depending on the model, we combine colours, separate parts or figures that come off the printer already articulated.
We inspect printed pieces and prepare them carefully for the next stage. For our toys, we use filaments supported by appropriate material and test evidence, including EN 71-3. To us, Swiss Made means direct oversight of what we're producing.

Why do some 3D-printed figures show fine lines?
The visible lines are not a painted pattern: they result from the FDM printer building the object layer by layer. Their appearance depends on the material, colour, surface and shape. They are a normal feature of the manufacturing process.
Are 3D-printed animal figures suitable for children?
Our appropriately labelled toys are intended for children aged 3 and over. Always check the individual product description because designs vary. Warning: Small parts. Not suitable for children under 36 months.

Which animal figure should I choose for my child?
Does the child love horses? A horse or complete stable set may be perfect. Do they love all kinds of animals? Small articulated figures offer collecting and combining possibilities. Do they prefer fantasy? A colourful creature or ProtoDragon might be more exciting.
Can't decide? Explore our animal play sets together and discover what catches their eye.
Create your own ProtoPlot3D world
One small figure can be a beginning. It might stay on its own, find friends or eventually become part of a whole farm, stable or fantasy world full of dragons. That's what we want to offer: figures to play with, collect, combine and tell stories about.
