Not long ago, ProtoPlot3D was a workshop full of 3D printers, filament and ideas in Oetwil am See. Today, some of those creations can be found in Swiss toy shops. ProtoPlot3D is now available at Spielkiste!
That is an important milestone. Families and collectors no longer have to discover our articulated 3D-printed figures only online: they can see, hold and move selected products in specialist shops. One thing remains unchanged: we still manufacture our figures in Switzerland.
From a small 3D-printing project into Swiss toy retail
ProtoPlot3D makes articulated figures and imaginative play worlds. In our workshop in Oetwil am See, filament becomes dragons, dinosaurs, animals and complete play sets, built layer by layer. Many figures leave the printer already articulated, with their movable segments integrated into the design.

ProtoPlot3D and Spielkiste: experience the figures in person
Browsing toys online is convenient, but an articulated figure is different when you hold it. What is its real size? How do the colours look in normal light? How do its individual segments move? Customers can now experience all of that at Spielkiste.

Dinosaurs for young prehistoric explorers
Dinosaurs are another important part of ProtoPlot3D. Small baby dinosaurs, articulated Triceratops and other species can be played with or collected. Some children prefer individual figures; others enjoy complete prehistoric environments. Explore our dinosaur figures and play sets.
Animals and play worlds
Our range goes far beyond dragons and dinosaurs. We also design horses, cows, lemurs, iguanas and many other animals as movable figures or parts of larger play scenes.

Why reaching Spielkiste matters to us
We don't want ProtoPlot3D to be just another 3D-printing brand on the Internet. Our goal is to develop figures that children can actually touch, move, collect and use to create their own stories.
Discovering a product in a physical shop is different from seeing a picture on a smartphone. Children can explore a model, parents can check its size and finish, and new customers can find the brand for the first time. That's why this move into specialist retail is such a meaningful step.
Swiss Made remains Swiss Made
Working with a larger retailer does not change how our figures are made. We still print them on our own machines in Oetwil am See, Switzerland, and check them after production.
For our toys, we select filaments with appropriate material and testing documentation, including EN 71-3 evidence. Growth doesn't mean replacing our work with anonymous mass-produced imports: it means sharing the products we make ourselves with more people.

Selected products were delivered to participating Spielkiste branches. At the time of this announcement, availability was planned for almost all regular stores except Länderpark and the Outlet. Ranges and stock vary by location, so please contact the branch before making a special journey.
